Although I’m a champion of architects and quality designers work, I also want to showcase smart, eco homes at all prices. Therefore I was excited to uncover this Australian government initiative, which commissioned an architect to draw up a variety of sustainable home plans. All designs have been adapted to accommodate all our eight climate zones within Australia. Plus by using standard construction materials and techniques, this home will continue to keep the costs down.
Even though these plans start at a 7 star NatHERS energy rating, there are options to replace certain materials to achieve a further 8+ score. This will, no doubt, help save further money on your bills, or assist in securing a better location?
The ‘Design For Place’ found in ‘yourhome.gov.au site offers a 2, 3 and 4 bedroom plan that can be reworked.
