Perth Arena – A New Urban Chapter
Architecture & Design.
The Perth Arena represents new beginnings on how WA engages with built design. The design is complex, daring and innovative which a thriving and evolving city needs in a multiuse entertainment centre. This building is an exciting addition to the Perth’s urban landscape.
We spoke to Jacqueline Cunningham, Interior Design Leader at Cameron Chisholm Nicol, who was one of many key designers involved in the project.
Describe the essence of the project in 3 words?
Innovative, extraordinary, high-performance.
What are your favourite features of the Arena?
The distinctive design language of the public spaces, including the spectacular entry foyer and the voluminous, timber-lined concourses, with their embodied atmosphere, wonderful spatial qualities and amazing acoustics. The bowl design, with its innovative seating and flexible configurations, has an exciting design dynamic which makes it the perfect backdrop for sports and entertainment events. The corporate suites, bars and function areas, which each have an individual identity whilst remaining true to the building’s core design principles.
