Jennifer Turner – Minimal, Modern with a Natural Twist
Originally from the UK Jennifer Turner has gained over 15 year’s interior design experience working in hotels, retail, and public spaces both in London and Western Australia.
design-estate was attracted to her recently completed Mt Lawley project and chatted to Turner about her style and this job.
How would you best describe your design aesthetic?
I would describe my overall design aesthetic as minimal, modern and with a focus on natural finishes.
What do you find interesting about this project?
I like the attention to detail where finishes meet (Floor finish wrapping up plinths to meet veneer finishes separated by shadow lines.)
Name some of the key materials you used?
Oak timber veneer, limestone flooring, two pac paint and a glazed ceramic feature tile.
Where do you source design inspiration?
It’s a combination of things, mostly minimalists, International modern interior design and nature.
What do you think is WA style?
Most of my briefs from WA clients have been for a clean aesthetic with practical (Non-staining /ageing) finishes.
What are some of your favourite retailer?
I have quite a few brands that I like to use, mostly the brands who focus on ethical manufacturing source and sustainable finishes. My favourite furniture brand is Mater through Design Farm, it’s ethically made with fantastic designs.
