Coniglio Ainsworth – Exceeding Clients Expectations
Perth-based studio Coniglio Ainsworth was established in 2010 with a singular vision; exceed clients expectations. Rather than concern themselves with style, the desire to respond in an exciting way to challenges and project parameters drives the firm to go above and beyond. Constant questioning of a client’s brief can lead to a result they had not envisioned for themselves that enhances their lifestyle. Coniglio Ainsworth uses this relationship with design and clientel to create projects unlike anything seen in Western Australia.
How would you describe your approach to Architecture, and what generally influences the style of your work?
Our focus is to deliver innovative contemporary architecture that strives to achieve exceptional outcomes from a thorough questioning of the constraints and opportunities presented by any project. We are not concerned with style as such but rather an appropriate and exciting architectural response to project parameters such as site, context, environment, constructability, budget, economy, project aspirations, etc.
What inspired you on this particular project?
Our desire was to create a private, light-filled, solar-passive designed, low-maintenance home with excellent connections between internal and external spaces and achieve this within the site constraints of a particularly narrow (and long) property being only 7.5m wide with a south facing rear yard.
What are your favourite features of the project?
The central courtyard and expanses of glazing introduce ample northern light and breezes into the house and create strong connections through the house to the outdoors to well established gardens.
What are the advantages for a client when engaging with an Architect?
An architect should question a Client’s brief and seek opportunities to deliver an outcome that exceeds their Client’s expectations within the constraints and opportunities of their brief and budget, etc. This way an architect can deliver an outcome that can add significant value to a project, enhance a Client’s lifestyle, be more environmentally responsible, reduce lifecycle costs and achieve more than a building alone.
Where can we experience previous works of yours?
Our highest profile projects are those in the public realm being Forrest Place Information Kiosk, the Cultural Centre Amenities (toilets opposite the Art Gallery of WA) and Butler Train Station however we have completed numerous houses like Kooringal Retreat and other projects that can be viewed on our website (www.coniglioainsworth.com.au).
