We chat to him about what’s so exceptional about this place.
What were the essential elements you wanted to create when designing your new home?
Inspired by some of the classic 1950’s architecture around Sydney Harbour and the Northern Beaches, this home was inspired and designed to combine high-end luxury, together with a contemporary casual, beachside style of living.
It is designed for the family who wants the very best in modern conveniences and design without the extravagance.
Built for living, built for entertaining, built for families, built for the beach lifestyle. Cool, crisp, modern and eclectic.
What’s your favourite feature or features in your home?
The top floor is undeniably spectacular. The western facing windows are the pool fence and open the entertaining area onto the infinity pool. There is an internal bar running along the pool’s edge so that those in the pool can intermingle with those who aren’t.
The ocean views are 180 degrees and panoramic. The louvered windows on the other side of the room can be opened to give incredible cross ventilation and a real indoor/outdoor feel to this whole area.
Sea breezes waft over the infinity pool which runs down the entire western boundary of the room and naturally cools this entire floor providing an incredibly well considered and eco-friendly solution to an age old problem. The second kitchen on this level is fitted with a commercial barbecue.
The floor plan is open and expansive, and our place tends to be the destination of choice when all of our friends want to get together. It is hard to fault as an entertaining venue. We just love it.
Talk us through the highlights of a day at home?
The views! The best view would have to be from floating in the rooftop infinity pool. We spend countless hours just hanging over the edge and soaking up the 180-degree expanse of ocean views, coastal scenery and goings on.
The views take in Rottnest, Gage Roads and you can even watch people walking in and out of the beach tracks just opposite. It is such a perfect place to contemplate life, gather your thoughts, reconnect and re-energise.
Fun times and entertaining with friends and family, both on special occasions and when people would just drop by for those unexpected spontaneous gatherings, which evolve into usually something more.
Being a builder, you added extra, personal features. Name some significant highlights?
I wanted to add every conceivable extra to satisfy my every desire.
Highlights include: Smart wired, two pools including rooftop infinity pool with glass floor into formal dining room ceiling, triple garage plus workshop, wine cellar, a bathroom for every bedroom, wall mounted televisions throughout and a monster kitchen featuring high end hidden extras such as second oven, steam oven, ZIPP Hot-Cold-Sparkling water dispenser, down draft range hood. There are more air conditioning units in this home than you are likely to have ever seen before. Additionally, the home is much larger than you may expect from the street.
The home was completed circa 2014.
Tell us some of the best things about living in City Beach.
The beach access track is around 100m from the front door. With almost no street frontage it feels like a private, backyard beach for the residents!
Three networks of parklands run like green ribbons from the eastern boundary of the suburb all the way to the ocean front.
Truly magical for a location which is so central to the heart of Perth City.
Even in a 40-degree heat wave you can stand on the shoreline directly opposite with barely another soul around.
