We spoke to the owners who spent time explaining makes this place so unique.
What attracted you to buy this home or property initially?
The trees and sense of space. We call it The Treehouse. They provide an incredible view from every angle, it’s a serene and calming environment full of birdlife, yet you can still walk to the local café (Goanna Gallery) for breakfast or lunch. Having moved from a tiny terrace house with our twins we wanted them to roam freely with a no fear factor. And we had all the space we needed and then some.
Who did you work with to design and build or renovate your home?
We are the third owners of this home. It started life as a modest holiday home and has been extended (previous owner) and renovated by us with Builder Ken Norrish.
We designed the floorplan changes and interiors ourselves. We work in the industry and have previous experience in designing renovations and interiors, we love it.
How would you describe this house in 5 words?
There’s something to please everyone.
Talk us through the highlights of a typical day or weekend at this home?
Sitting on the front verandah is the ideal location to catch the gentle morning while you sip tea.
Our kids love their freedom to adventure out (literally with backpacks, a compass and copious amounts of snacks) and play around the property all day. It’s easy to hear them in this quiet location and spot them from our elevated location. They also ride their bikes and scooters endlessly in circles the house as the verandah extends its whole perimeter.
The afternoon and evening are deck time. A large lounger is essential with a glass of West Winds gin and tonic and a good book.
We designed the kitchen and outdoor area for entertaining. We’ve held a long table birthday celebration out the front one summer and had four families for a massive pizza night. It’s so easy with so much space for the kids to go wild, they love it.
My heaven is in my studio. I love being in there sewing or screen printing. We’ve run courses in there, and I regularly have friends over to hanging out and chat while we make and experiment.
